I attended two very cool LIVE online concerts last weekend...
1. Living Colour - All of the key tracks from their award-winning albums that you saw on eMpTVy during the 80's/90's.
2. Jason Miles - Originals + the music of Miles Davis, Sting, Luther Vandross, etc plus Jason's "musical biography" between songs, with stories of his work with Miles Davis, Sting, Luther Vandross, etc.
3. A week or so ago, I got to see the spectacular debut online concert featuring our friend Alex Harris
Under "normal circumstances," there would have been no way logistically, I could have seen both shows last weekend live. One was in Philly and the other one was in Westchester, NY. Plus on top of the ticket price + drinks + food (x2 since I would also have to take "Mrs. Earthjuice” with me,) it would have cost me almost $100.00 in gas and tolls to see the show in Westchester, NY. The one in Philly would have cost around $50.00 in gas & tolls. These two shows would have set me back several hundred dollars or more.
One last thing.....I have no idea when I am going to feel comfortable again, inside of a poorly ventilated venue for a couple of hours, with "strangers" breathing all over me. Right now, places like that feel like a just another way to quickly catch the Coronavirus in my mind 🙂 Given those considerations, (Health/Safety + not wanting to drop a whole bunch of money) plus the high quality of the shows themselves (excellent music, excellent sound/video, excellent production ) I am quite happy to watch good concerts online. I don't know about you but I would much rather pay $20-$30, then pay $400-500 to see two GREAT concerts over the course of a weekend!
Who knows, at this rate, I may never leave home to go to a concert again
