My earliest memory of Tony Bennett was listening to "I Left My Heart In San Francisco." It was playing in the house, either on TV or something, but I know that it struck my five year old soul in 1962, so I kept listening to it even more intently. But what I wanted to know was why was his heart left in San Francisco, when clearly he was alive and breathing, then singing the song. I asked my mom's. She was too exasperated with me, but she had to laugh. "Dianne, that's the song!" He was talking about a girl, 'why he giving some girl his heart?' But I wanted to go deeper, and wanted an explicit answer to my question. 😆 Needless to say, that I have been studying Tony Bennett ever since. Rest on Legend.
